Accent Walls… DO or DON’T?…

My first answer is ‘’DON’T’’… I’m not a fan of painted accent walls because the moment you walk into the room, your eye is immediately drawn to that one wall instead of moving naturally throughout the space. Often, it can look unfinished — almost like the paint project wasn’t completed. In most cases, painting all the walls the same colour creates a more cohesive, elegant, and professionally designed look.

Another way to create a feature wall is with wallpaper; however, be sure to coordinate the other walls with a paint colour found within the wallpaper.

Colour drenching a room creates a cosy, immersive feeling while adding depth, warmth, and sophistication to the space. By wrapping the walls, trim, and sometimes even the ceiling in the same colour, the room feels more cohesive, calming, and intentionally designed.

Adding moulding to the headboard wall gives the room visual interest however, I always suggest to paint the moulding and the remaining walls the same colour to give it a cohesive look.

In this bedroom, wallpaper was added to the headboard wall to introduce a timeless, visually interesting pattern, while coordinating paint was used on the remaining walls. Although the walls are in a neutral tone, the coordinated paint colour creates a unified look throughout the space.
